Its time for my post for the Artful Crafting challenge 2, which is all about ‘Unusual Stamping’. The focus is to go beyond using stamps as a sentiment…. there is sOOooo much more we can do with them… like making embellishments, coloring them in with pencils/inks/paints/markers etc, using them in mixed media, creating heat embossed backgrounds and many other ways.
Have you seen the wonderful projects by the DT… if not you HAVE to… they are super awesome and show some wonderful ways you can incorporate stamping into your projects!!!
So here is what I came up with…
I used ‘Piper’ from Saturated Canary stamps, from my DT kit… shes so pretty!!..
A look at my DT kit from Artful Crafting.
So here is the story…. Once upon a time…. (just kidding!!)
I stamped ‘Piper’ on watercolor paper and colored her in using Distress inks (tattered rose, vintage photo, aged mahogany, seedless preserves, black soot, antique linen, squeezed lemonade and walnut stain)
Seedless preserves in a wonderful color and it matched perfectly with the card pack included in my DT kit and of course was a perfect choice for coloring in Piper’s dress.
For this card I wanted to create a stamped background paper. I cut open the matching envelope because it was the perfect color and used Prima Epiphany stamps… They are a must have!!.. I have been wanting them since eons and finally bought them recently from Artful crafting 🙂
And I haddddd to use a stencil… and my choice was ‘Dot Fade’ by Tim Holtz… Also from Artful Crafting. I then prepared the card base using Go Kreate dies.
To embellish the card I stamped and fussy cut some butterflies. Now to my favorite part… I stamped some birdcages and a stop watch from the Prima Marketing Epiphany stamp set and layered them to make a chandelier embellishment. I must say I was happy … hehe.. it looks really pretty in real. Here is a close-up.
I also used some lace from my stash and a die for background layering. To finish off I also applied the Orchid liquid pearls… Oh what a delicious color it is!!! Love it.
And cant wait to see the lovely entries to this challenge…. we were bowled over by the gorgeous takes for the stencil challenge. So looking forward to the awesomeness you come up with for this one!!
