Hi Ya’all 😀
Its that wonderful time of the month again!!! yayyyy! another Artful Crafting challenge.
This time the theme is all about embossing techniques. So today I bring to you a card made with heat embossing and foil…. confused??? well wait till you hear about it!
Foil is all the rage in the card making community now a days… as foiling effects look super awesome!! `foil adds that ‘WOW’ effect!!! There are many ways card makers and crafters add foil to their projects… like using Heidi Swapp Minc machine, a laminator and also heat embossing.
And today my project also focuses on using foil. Here is a look at my card..
Love the gorgeous metallic effects!!!… the magic ingredient for this project was Ranger sticky embossing powder… It is actually powder glue which melts when you use a heat gun over it. Then the possibilities are endless… you can use it with foil, flock, glitter etc.
I started with a kraft card base (4.25 by 5.5 inches) and prepared it for embossing using some corn flour (yes I stole some from my kitchen 😛 ) and a dry paint brush!!! that takes care of moisture and static… I used versamark and hero arts background stamp ‘Flower Pattern’ over my piece. Then I applied the Ranger sticky powder over it and used my heat gun to melt it. The powder is fantastic. And so is the Ranger foil… I used the gold shades from the vintage pack in my lovely Design kit… I had pre cut three different colours of Ranger foil to size and I adhered it to the now sticky card base. Then all your need is to rub over the foil so that it completely adheres to the embossed areas. I used my fingers to rub over it and also my Martha Stewart score tool. Take off the foil and the results are magical…. TIP: Just apply foil to any left over areas for a lovely vintage look..
To finish off my card, I distressed the edges of my piece using walnut stain and then adhered it to a black card I had cut before. For the sentiment I die-cut W plus 9 ‘Thank you’ die and applied some black wink of stella over it… Here is another look at my card.
This was my first time ever playing with foil… and seriously I loved the effect! Head of to the Artful Crafting blog and check out the awesome projects by the rest of the Design Team.
Would love to see you taking part in the Challenge!
