Hope your day was a good one… I managed to steal some ‘Me Time’ today, a few minutes here and there and this is what I made… Tadaaaa!!
Yesterday, I got some happy mail… new stamps sets from Honey Bee Stamps, (you should definitely check them out) and I made this card using a set called ‘sweet as honey‘.
I started with embossing the two flowers and leaves randomly with versamark and then used Wow ‘clear sparkle’ embossing powder to heat emboss them. Then I coloured the flowers and leaves with distress stains (seedless preserves, picked raspberry and pine needles). Once dry I used my precision scissors for fussy cutting. After that I prepared the base layer and stamped my sentiments (also from the same stamp set) and the cute bee and coloured it in with squeezed lemonade distress stain and a black pen. Then I created a mask for the bee using a post it note, covered it used chipped sapphire and broken china distress stains to create a soft background. Once it was dry I splattered the card layer to my hearts content.
I used my heat gun for quick drying the splatters and then adhered the fussy cut floral piece using some foam squares… it gave the card great dimension with it still being single layered. To add the finishing touches I added some sequins and covered the flowers, leaves and the bee with wink of stella glitter pen.
Here is a close up….
I am entering this card into Stamping Smiles Designs and for the tic tac toe I chose Leaves, Embossing and Sparkles.
This is the tic-tac-toe challenge.
And last but not the least I am going to be sending this card to a someone really awesome who makes other people smile… you should definitely check out the sharing handmade kindness challenge hosted by Jennifer McGuire. I have been super slow with sharing cards and this challenge has inspired and encouraged me to make and share cards. Kindness sure is a wonderful magical feeling for both the giver and the recipient and I believe that we should make more of an effort to spread this magic.
